2. Expressing our Diversity through Creativity: An experiential workshop Today more than ever we, as God's people, need to embrace and nurture our inherent creativity. Come and roll up your sleeves, and let's flex those creative muscles together. You'll definitely have fun, you may get dirty and, who knows, perhaps you'll create a masterpiece. Sharon Tiessen, Artist in Residence, Weston Park Baptist, Toronto

4. Transforming Your Church with Spiritual Gifts Imagine a church where people are passionate about serving, where parishioners don’t have to be “guilted” into ministry roles, where there is limited turnover year to year and where the mission and ministry of the church is fruitful. This workshop will give a brief overview of ministry based on the spiritual gifts of church members and wisdom for implementing the practice and feedback on effective tools to see your church transformed through Spiritual Gifts. Clint Mix, CBOQ Director of Congregational Health
5. Beginning a Neighbour Church Ministry Ted Brown and Ed McLean at Heart Lake Baptist Church, serve together in one of CBOQ's Barnabas Initiatives. They are immersed in community and neighbourhood ministry. Ted works primarily with 'unchurched' but spiritually hungry people, in practical ways of love and care in showing and telling the Gospel. He explores with new people how they too can respond as God's People to establish a neighbourhood church - on the street or in the condo where they live. Ted Brown, Associate Pastor, Heart Lake Baptist Church
6. Impacting Your Local School Steve Filyer and Walter McIntyre will reveal the influence of 'Key Bible Clubs' in the local schools of a number of our communities. They will share KBC history and present ministry involvements and reveal little-known affirmations of local and provincial governments. The seminar will include clear, practical and manageable steps as to how your church can be involved in sharing the Gospel in our public schools. Steve Filyer, Pastor, Bothwell Baptist Church and Walter McIntyre, Associate Pastor, Kipling Avenue Baptist and CBOQ Missional Initiatives Associate
7. Creative, Effective Associations Can long-standing support structure become a new, life affirming vehicle building Kingdom momentum? Kathy Smith, CBOQ Congregation Health Associate
8. Youth Ministry Between Two Worlds Brian Dyck is a volunteer youth worker at West Lorne Baptist Church; Brian is currently a soon-to-be graduate of the Child Youth Worker program at Lambton College. In this workshop, he will discuss how churches and non-church agencies (e.g. Children's Aid Society) can work together when handling crises involving youth. This will include evaluating some myths (and truths) churches have about non-church agencies and vice versa, focusing on how best to approach a crisis with an agency member, and how to proactively build partnerships with agencies. Brian Dyck, Volunteer Youth Leader, West Lorne Baptist

10. Making The Most of a Multi-Staff Team Many churches believe that if they could hire that next staff person then all would be well. While this is sometimes the case, there are too many stories of churches that have not had a positive experience with multi-staff. This workshop will explore ways that church staff teams can maximize their effectiveness and develop meaningful and productive staff relationships. Clint Mix, CBOQ Director of Congregational Health and Tim McCoy, former CBOQ Director of Youth Ministriesr
11. Foundational Principles For Being The Church In An Inter-Cultural Canadian Context Immanuel Baptist was a typical Baptist church 30 years ago. It was a primarily mono-cultural, Anglo congregation that reflected the surrounding community. Over the last 30 years the community has changed radically, and so has Immanuel Baptist. The pastors and leaders of Immanuel will share their insights of growing an intentionally intercultural church. The will share the successes and struggles along the journey of remaining relevant in a changing cultural context. Bruce Burgess, Pastor, Immanuel Baptist, Toronto Curt Erb, Associate Pastor, Immanuel Baptist, Toronto Rob Patterson, Missional Coordinator, Toronto Baptist Ministries
12. Transforming Children’s Ministry Children’s Ministry is expressed in a wide variety of ways in our CBOQ churches. This workshop will present some of the issues confronting children’s ministries, but also gather information from participants on what matters to you in your congregation in this area. Come prepared to discuss key ministry issues related to reaching children. Tanya Krahn and the CBOQ Children’s Ministry Advisory Team
13. Small Church / Big Impact Though very small, rural and some would say in the middle of nowhere, Breadalbane Baptist Church (Ottawa Association) is alive and vibrant with ministry. Recently this church has felt led to begin new outreach initiatives, perhaps even towards the establishment of a new church plant, in the neighbouring community of Alexandria. Bruce MacCallum and other ministry leaders will tell of what God has been doing in their midst and how He has been leading them to reach out further in a new ministry and mission. Bruce MacCallum, Pastor, Breadalbane Baptist Church
14. How Matthew House Transformed our Church You will be inspired and informed when you hear the story of how one church, linked with Matthew House nearby, has grown rapidly in size due to a warm and welcoming ministry, particularly to new Canadians. A large number of Karen refugee immigrants, Christian Baptists displaced from their homeland, have helped to swell the church and to bring with them new vigour and strength. Stan Mantle, Pastor, Grace Baptist, Windsor and Heather Mantle, Director, Matthew House, Windsor
15. Key Issues in Church Personnel Matters The Ministry Resources Committee has just published a new resource for our congregations: The Handbook for Personnel Matters. Brian Craig, CBOQ Director of Leadership Development
16. Diversity Without Division Congregations can maintain unity in the midst of divergent voices and polarized positions. Kathy Smith, CBOQ Congregational Health Associate
SATURDAY 11:20
17. Turned to Your True North: Staying Authentic in Leadership Authenticity is seen as one of the key virtues in our society. It’s even more important for those who lead in ministry. Brian Craig, CBOQ Director of Leadership Development

Phil Zylla, Academic Dean, McMaster Divinity College
19. Transforming Communities: Congregational Change If your church were to cease to exist would anyone outside of it notice? Some churches today find themselves in a stagnant malaise. Many leaders find themselves at a loss to know how to move the church from maintenance to renewing itself and transforming the culture they find themselves in. This workshop will give an overview of the renewal process designed to bring health to your church and transformation to your community. Clint Mix, CBOQ Director of Congregational Health
20. Re-Energizing the Volunteers in Your Church Finding people to serve in ministry areas is always a challenge for churches. Clearly defining volunteer roles, evaluating ministry volunteers and celebrating their small victories are key elements in re-energizing then in your ministry context. God has provided wonderful people in your midst. Let's gather and explore how we can enhance their lives by celebrating what God is doing through them. Tim McCoy, former CBOQ Director of Youth Ministries
21. Barnabas Initiatives / Antioch Churches What are Barnabas Initiatives and why should we care? Our Director of Missional Initiatives will give an overview of the Barnabas Initiatives now underway in various locales. CBOQ's vision in enabling the 'seeding' of new mission-focused ministries will be given. The impetus story, example and model of the New Testament Barnabas and Antioch Church of Syria can stimulate more of our churches to be missionally involved, seeing themselves as both 'sent' and 'sending' as part of God's Kingdom plan. Your church's possible support or involvement in these ventures may help it and other local churches come more fully alive. Laurie Barber, CBOQ Director of Missional Initiatives
22. Transforming Neighbourhoods Walter MacIntyre will host a panel of community leaders (YMCA employment specialist Tarik Dabbagh, community police officer, Sgt.
