  • suitable for both adults and youth, includes discussion questions
  • Published thirty years ago, it looks dated, but content is still O.K.

2. What Canadian Baptists Believe (by Wm. Jones)

  • available by emailing READ-On Bookstore
  • six chapters outlining Baptist beliefs and practices with questions for review and discussion at the end of each chapter

  • a small booklet – 28 pages

  • Five chapters: Salvation, Baptism, Communion, Service, Giving
  • with Baptism and Membership certificates; quite old, with “King James” English

5. A Call to Discipleship: Studies in Christian Discipleship and Church Members for Canadian Baptists (originally published in 1976 by the Department of Communications of CBOQ and updated in 2003)

6. Baptism and Church Membership (prepared by Kathy Root Parr)

This new material is arranged for a 6-session series, especially suitable for teens, but also useable for adults. (includes abundant scriptural references, a bibliography and tips/suggestions for leaders).

7. Discipleship Course (developed for his own use by Stanley Grummett available on a CD for the price of $15.00)

  • available through Read-on Bookstore
  • Designed for use with new disciples
  • Most of material is non-denominational covering many areas including devotional & prayer life, the Bible, Gifts of the Spirit, Stewardship, evangelism, church history. **Includes a fairly brief chapter on Baptist Heritage and Polity.

8. “We are Baptist” Series: 4 Studies (by Jeffrey Jones)

  • Published through 1999-2001 by Judson Press; can be ordered through Read-on Bookstore or directly from Judson Press: Cost per Study is $25.00 Canadian (approximately)
  • Each study is geared to a different age group (Adults, Youth, Older Elementary Children and Younger Elementary Children). Each study contains several sessions designed to help participants learn more about Baptist identity and beliefs. (Excellent material)

9. Book Study: Our Baptist Tradition

  • with Leader’s Study Guide by William Powell Tuck available from Smith and Helwys Publishing Inc., Macon GA
  • Challenging material for adults; probably not useful for teens without extensive adaptation (or maybe the excerpting of certain sections)

10. “Life in Christ”: Studies in Membership Classes or Small Groups (by John Barthol, published in 1997 by Evangelism Commission of CABC and can be ordered from: CABC, 1655 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB E2M 3Y2 (506)635-0344)

  • Cost $5.00
  • Eight chapters including Commitment to Christ, Declaring Your Relationship (Believer’s Baptism), Remembering your Relationship (The Lord’s Supper) and Baptist Distinctives.
  • Includes practical applications, questions for discussion and extensive Biblical references. Appropriate for adults and older teens; Language is quite traditional and might need some re-stating for those without much church background.
