Barnabus Communities

Transformed Communities

And what do Barnabus ministries look like?

They Make Sacrifices – large and small . . .
Can God’s people, linked in the Baptist tribe we call the CBOQ so give, of sacrifice and sharing and investment, that the Church will be build up – both locally and globally to enable the kinds of this-here world concrete actions that could be done. Is it not worth investing (even more) in what God is calling us to do together – beyond each of us in ‘our small corner’ – collectively and concertedly joining to bless others in ways they have no reason, really, to expect – but which are tangible expressions of our faith and our faithfulness and our love for Christ, His People and the ‘lost treasures’ He’s come to find and to rejoice over.

Can we give sacrificially as did Barnabus? Can we – because of the joy set before us (cf. Hebrews 12), like our Lord Jesus - endure the cross(es), despising the pain, the shame, the limitations – so that many might get in on the blessings and abundance that we’ve already begin to experience?

With this kind of thinking and response, and with so much to do - together as locally, what are the implications in your church’s budget (and in the Convention’s ‘case for support), as we seek to bless Jesus through the missional pursuits to which He is calling us?

They Share Barnabus-like Resources and Encouragement
What resources (money, buildings, personnel, gifts, talents, concrete and tangible expression of our passion and offering of ourselves to our Lord, can we bring for investment. The great Day of Revelation depicts people of all ethne coming before the Lamb to offer tangible expressions of praise – beyond singing (but including singing, and no doubt dancing) bringing offerings that depict who we are and what God has given us so as to be freely used and returned to Him in Kingdom love and Kingdom service. Could we begin the dance, the songs, the exchange early (or is that what Revelation means in the first place?!) in pooling our resources so that another church ministry – a sister church, can be blessed, enabled – helped not only to survive but to thrive.
