CBOQ Partners in Grant Assistance

Local / Regional Missional Initiatives

CBOQ  grants can help to start, develop and sustain local church, church partnership and regional initiatives.

  • articulate a clear pathway towards the self-sustainability of the intended initiative
  • provide a model for replication in other church settings
  • indicate investment (financial or otherwise) from other partners.

As funding allows, CBOQ will offer small to medium sized grants to CBOQ member churches wishing to begin or expand (and in some cases, sustain) outward focused ministry. Priority will be given to applications which:

Grant Applications are available online. Grant Applications can also be sent out by mail in paper form by request. Potential applicants should contact a member of the CBOQ grant team before beginning to fill out the application.

Completed applications may be sent by e-mail, fax, or mail. The deadline for receiving applications is September 30. The CBOQ grant committee will make its determinations known to all applicants by November 15.  Successful applicants will receive monthly grant payments.  Payments will begin when the initiative starts.

Successful applicants will be asked to submit written progress reports every six months. The first report will be due six months from the start of the project. The reports should briefly outline the progress that has been made towards attaining the measureable goals related to the implementation steps that have been proposed in this application.

Successful applicants will be invited to submit at least one short article for publication by the CBOQ every twelve months. The article(s) should be two or three paragraphs long and include photographs where that is possible and appropriate.  The CBOQ will seek to encourage all of its churches to support your ministry in prayer and in other practical ways and to implement similar missional initiatives in their own settings.

Starting the initiative

  • Local / Regional Missional Initiatives grants will be given for a maximum of two years.
  • The maximum annual grant will be $15,000.00.
  • A one year grant renewal is possible in certain circumstances. (see “Developing the Initiative” below)

Developing the Initiative

  • In some cases, by way of a second application being made, CBOQ may continue to provide funding for one additional year (only) in order to support Regional Missional Initiatives which have demonstrated progress and potential, but which have not yet become self sustainable.
  • The maximum grant available for this additional year will be $10,000.00.
  • The object of this one year extension is to give the grant holder time to further strengthen the project, find more partners and make directive changes towards preferred goals.

Sustaining the initiative

In some cases, CBOQ may continue to provide funding for Local / Regional Missional Initiatives over a longer period of time if the following criteria are met:

  • If there are multiple partners supporting the initiative, of which CBOQ may be one (but  not the primary funding  partner)
  • If the initiative demonstrates potential as a catalyst and model to other churches and / or regions.
  • If the initiative demonstrates potential for empowering others towards CBOQ exponential         development of such initiatives.

These extended grants will be limited to a maximum amount of $15,000 per year
These extended grants will have a duration of two years and will, after that time,  be considered for renewal upon re-application. Consideration will be based upon the affirmation of the continued potential of the initiative and upon the continued convergence of the initiative with CBOQ goals.
