Transforming Communities

There are no definitive answers here – only opportunities and resources to share as we journey together in the Kingdom mission of the Church. We hope to spur the development of 'missional churches.'

The word ‘missional’ may convey a number of things including, certainly, our being ‘sent ones,’ but also learning from past and present ministry with people in other lands and cultures. Thinking missionally about our own context and community, as missionaries must in going to Bolivia, Indonesia or Kenya, will involve (in our contexts and communities) learning cultures, languages and music styles of those we are seeking to serve, in Jesus’ Name. It will mean adaptation and change to reach out in sharing the love and life of Jesus – so that, indeed, as transformed people we gather as transformed churches to effective the transformation of the communities we serve.

Mission for Christ is wholistic. God loves the whole cosmos and is, through His Son, setting up Kingdom sign-posts of the ultimate restoration of all things in Him. Our ministry must touch all of life, for, joy to the world . . . He comes to make His blessing known – far as the curse is found.

Can we not join more fully together, with Christ and His people, in whom He is working to transform us more and more into His image -- to establish more outward-looking, Kingdom-formed and mission-focussed transformed-and-transforming congregations that are ‘colonies of heaven?’
