Often times when I am meeting with a church I like to pose the question to them: “If this church were to cease to exist in this community would anyone outside of the church even notice?” There are often some long periods of silence.

Jesus said that he would build his church and that the gates of hell would not prevail against us. The question is how do we get there? Many of our churches are stuck in survival mode. The next generation is not interested in joining the church. Nickels and noses are decreasing.

While there are no quick and easy answers (anyone who tells you there is, is likely selling something!) there are biblical perspectives, processes and practices that, when embraced, result in church renewal and Kingdom impact. This manual is designed to give you all that you would need to experience the renewal process. It has currently been utilized in McMaster Divinity School and we are trying to make it available to churches so that they can also experience renewal. It is clearly a “work in progress,” and, as such, we would greatly appreciate your feedback as you process through it. What made sense, what confused you, etc.
