Turnaround Church

The Revitalization of the Local Church

Local churches can lose their way - lose their sense of identity, their focus, the purpose and mission for which Christ has called them into their local community and into the world. When that happens, there is a real need for new and intensive 'turn-around' strategies so that once more the flame may burn brightly, in what is otherwise often a very dark world.

Dr. George Bullard, Jr. writes of this in Congregational Passages: The Life Cycle and Stages of Congregational Development - "I have found the cycle concept to be accurate in helping me determine how age and stage are impacting congregations. It helps them to define reality, and to focus on the next steps for appropriate change, transition, or transformation in reaching their Kingdom potential. Particularly during a strategic process, it makes clear the order of the issues with which a congregation must deal."

"In conflict situations it helps congregations to understand that many issues with which they are dealing are typical of their stage of development, and are not helped by determining who is right, but by discovering the next steps their congregation needs to take."
